Digital banking for a US LLC: Wise, Payoneer, Mercury and others

Amazon US pays your sales proceeds into a bank account in the US (with an account and routing number). For an LLC owner based in Türkiye, opening this account can be harder than forming the company. The information below comes from the providers' own official pages. No provider guarantees that it will open an account for you.

What you need to know first

  • Amazon pays out in each marketplace's local currency, into a local account. For the US, you need a US account and routing number.
  • Wise, Mercury and similar services are not banks. They are financial technology companies that work with partner banks, and deposit protection varies by provider.
  • Most providers do not accept a registered agent address, a P.O. box or a virtual office address as a business address.
  • Amazon's list of approved payment providers is available in Seller Central once you sign in.

Wise Business

  • A US business must provide its EIN, company type, registered address and physical operating address. Wise does not accept a registered agent address or a virtual address as the operating address.
  • Wise does not accept businesses formed in Nevada, for licensing reasons.
  • Wise does not issue new account details to Türkiye-based customers. The restriction applies to personal and business accounts separately, based on the registered address.
  • You add it to Amazon under Deposit Method in Seller Central and verify account ownership with a document.

Payoneer

  • Payoneer says it offers local receiving accounts in the currencies of Amazon marketplaces, and that you can receive payments via ACH in the US.
  • Fee categories: currency conversion between balances, withdrawals to a local bank and receiving fees. Check Payoneer's page for current amounts.

Mercury and Airwallex

  • Mercury: the company must be formed in the US, but the founder does not need to live there. Mercury asks for formation documents, the EIN document and a passport. It does not serve founders living in certain countries.
  • Airwallex: requires the EIN document, the formation document filed with the state and the owners' passports. Businesses that operate mostly outside the US may need to provide additional documents showing a US connection. Use the ACH routing number when linking the account to Amazon.

Amazon's own currency conversion options

Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers converts your proceeds and deposits them into your local bank account. The fee is tiered based on your sales volume over the last 12 months. Support for the Turkish lira and for banks in Türkiye is shown only on Seller Central pages that require sign-in: when you add a payment method, check whether Türkiye appears in the list of bank countries.

If the seller account belongs to a US LLC, paying company revenue into the owner's personal account should be evaluated separately, both for keeping company and personal finances apart and for tax purposes.

Risks

  • Providers may restrict an account over unusual activity or to verify identity, address or source of funds. Review times depend on the provider.
  • Using a personal account for business payments may violate provider rules.
  • Restrictions affecting Türkiye can change. Read the provider's current rules before you open an account.

Frequently asked questions

Which provider should I choose?

There is no single right answer. It depends on the state where your company was formed, your operating address and the provider's current country rules. Read the provider's official eligibility page before you apply.

Can I use my registered agent's address as my business address?

Wise and Mercury both state explicitly that they do not accept a registered agent address as a business address.
